What this app is and how to begin
Ko-Ko Money is an app for tracking income and expenses. It runs in your browser and keeps your records on the device itself: until you create an account they go nowhere, and we cannot see them.
On first launch the app asks for your language and main currency, then sets up a starter kit: one income source, two accounts — Cash and Card — and four categories. It is only a starting point; change it however you like.
Those three rows are the whole app:
- blue on top — income sources: where money comes from;
- yellow in the middle — accounts: where it sits (cash, a card, a jar);
- green at the bottom — spending: the categories money goes to.
Transactions are entered by dragging one circle onto another. That gesture is the heart of the app, and it has an article of its own.
Where to actually start: tap the pencil in the header to enter edit mode. There you can rename circles, change their icon and currency, add your own and remove the ones you do not need. For each account, fill in its opening balance — what is on it right now. Without that the balance counts from zero, and the app shows only the movement of your money rather than the money itself.
Until you create an account, your records live only in this browser. Clearing the browser data deletes them for good, and we cannot restore them — because we never had them. Read “Where your data lives”: it covers export.
