Category limits
A category can carry a monthly limit — how much you are willing to spend on it. The “Monthly limit” field is in every category's settings; leave it empty and there is no limit, so the circle simply shows what you spent.
From then on the circle shows not just the amount but how much of the limit is gone: it fills from the bottom up, and the colour warns you in advance.
- green — less than 60% of the limit spent;
- orange — between 60% and 80%: time to slow down;
- red — 80% or more, overspending included.
Overspending is not drawn beyond the circle: the fill stops at full, and the red colour is the signal. Under the circle you see both what you spent and the limit itself, in grey.
How it looks is up to you. Settings has two switches: “Show budget” turns on the limit line under the circle, and “Coloured overspending” picks the style — “Off”, “Fill” or “Ring”.
A limit is compared against what you spent in the current reporting period — the one set in Settings (“Reporting period” and “Start”). That is a month by default, which is why the field says “Monthly limit”; choose a week or a quarter and the comparison window moves with it. And the limit forbids nothing: the app warns you with colour, it does not stop you from spending more.
